On the final day of the festival, we are very lucky to be joining forces with one of the world’s best record shops. The legendary, London based shop Phonica will be hosting their own stage operating throughout the day and deep into the night with none other than Optimo, Midland and Phonica resident DJs providing the soundtrack!
Optimo is the DJ duo of JD Twitch and JG Wilkes whose legendary night in Glasgow ran from 1997 to 2010 and since the club’s demise have consistently been on the international gigging circuit. Twitch and Wilkes exhibit a unique disregard for genres and musical restrictions in their craft, creating a nightclub experience that strikes out into territories far beyond the accepted boundaries of club music. After closing down the woods at last year’s Alfresco, with a special 6 hour set, we are more than happy to welcome them back once again.

Joining Optimo is Midland! Widely considered one of the best DJs on the face of the planet, he delivers his kaleidoscopic taste with a mixing technique that nods as much to his British lineage as it does to a smoother European style. He has distinguished himself with sets as classy as they are utterly party rocking. Late at night and early in the morning, aboard boat parties on the Adriatic or on the carpeted dance floor at Freerotation, via regular slots at Berlin’s Panorama Bar, Amsterdam’s Dekmantel Festival, Glastonbury’s NYC Downlow and London’s Fabric or any of his “all night long” sets, he’s given countless unforgettable moments to innumerable people.
It’s also safe to say that Midland can hold his own as a producer, with releases on many esteemed labels including, quite fittingly so, Phonica’s White Label series and JD Twitch’s Autonomous Africa. On top of these and others, productions such as ‘Blush’ and ‘Final Credits’ on his own Graded and ReGraded labels saw massive success last year, with Final Credits being named track of the year by Mixmag.
